Electric Department Receives APPA Electric Utility Safety Award

For the eighth consecutive year the City of

Madisonville Electric Department is the recipient of the APPA
Electric Utility Safety Award.

Eighty-eight public power systems have earned the American Public Power Association's Electric Utility Safety Award for safe operating practices in 2007.  More than 200 utilities entered the annual contest.

Entrants were placed in categories according to their number of worker hours and judged for the most incident-free records during 2007.  The incidence rate, used to judge contest entries, is based on the number of work-related reportable injuries or illnesses and the number of worker-hours during 2007, as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The Electric Department is also commended for accomplishing ten years without a lost time accident.

Congratulations to Jim Asbury and his crew for exemplifiying outstanding safety practices!
