City Certified as KY Main Street/Renaissance on Main Community
The City of Madisonville announces that it has been certified for 2008 as a Kentucky Main Street/Renaissance on Main community by the Kentucky Heritage Council. The certification is based on a community meeting certain standards and guidelines as set forth by the Kentucky Heritage Council. Madisonville exceeded the minimum requirements in each of the four areas of concentration - Organization, Design, Promotion, and Economic Restructuring. The certification, which is an annual process, recognizes the City of Madisonville's commitment to enhance, and promote, the downtown as a vital component of the community's economic base while increasing the quality of life for its citizens.
This recognition by Kentucky Heritage Council underscores the important work of our city employees, elected officials, the volunteers of the Madisonville Renaissance Committee and the Historic District Commission. It is a nice compliment for the Kentucky Heritage Council to recognize the efforts of those individuals, and communities, dedicated to the efforts it takes to keep a sense of history about its community while increasing the opportunities for economic development and quality of life. While the certification is awarded to the entity, it is truly recognition for all those individuals who give of their time and talents to make the City of Madisonville the Best Town on Earth.
