Council Adopts New Animal Control Ordinance
On July 17, 2007 the City Council adopted a new and improved Animal Control Ordinance with the intent to protect our citizens as well as our animals. The ordinance includes changes such as the number of dogs a person is allowed to quarter outdoors as well as the fencing height and roof specifications.
The ordinance was in no way established to punish responsible pet owners, but to authenticate enforceable regulations that protect the wellbeing of everyone. The Office of Code Enforcement is working closely with the Madisonville Police Department to insure that all violations are handled according to the ordinance.
If you are aware of a situation pertaining to a vicious animal or have questions about the new animal control ordinance, please contact the Code Enforcement Office at sjones@madisonvillegov.com or call 270-824-2179.
